Getting to and Around Prince Edward Island

· 4 min read

How to reach PEI by the Confederation Bridge, ferry or plane, and how to get around the Island once you arrive.

By bridge

The Confederation Bridge links Borden-Carleton, PEI, with Cape Jourimain, New Brunswick. At about 12.9 km it is one of the longest bridges over ice-covered water in the world. The toll is collected when you leave the Island.

By ferry

A seasonal ferry connects Wood Islands, PEI, with Caribou, Nova Scotia. Many travellers arrive one way and leave the other. Check the operator's schedule before you go.

By air

Charlottetown Airport (YYG) is a short drive from downtown and is served by seasonal and year-round flights.

Getting around

A car is the easiest way to explore rural PEI, as public transit outside Charlottetown is limited. In the city, walking, taxis and local transit cover most needs.
